Have you ever been doing a diet and losing weight like crazy, and suddenly your weight loss grinds to a halt and it leaves you questioning whether you're doing weight loss wrong? I think that everyone that has seriously tried and attempted to lose weight has come across this same problem and a grand majority don't know what to do about it. When your body halts to a stop when you're doing everything right that you have always done to lose weight, what are you supposed to do? Today we are going to discuss and talk about the secrets to busting the weight loss plateau! Let's get started!
1. Efficiency: What happens to your body when you start losing weight and getting into a routine that makes your body shrug it off like its nothing? What happens is that your body is working more efficiently and you will need to adjust your body to do more working out and using more energy than the energy that you get from your food. When you use the energy of the body, your body will start to make more because all of the energy was expended.
2. Nutrition: Increases in protein and fiber need to happen more often than not because protein and fiber will keep you satiated and will keep you feeling full for longer amounts of time. If you're wanting to lose weight, then you need to increase your muscle mass. Muscle is what burns your extra fat. This is why you see these really obese people working out and suddenly they shed huge amounts of weight. Supplementing with protein shakes and doing weightlifting or HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is how to kick your body into using more fat for energy and busting the weight loss plateau.
3. Hydration: Believe it or not, your body will hold onto more water and suck up as much as it can handle if you are depriving yourself of water and are not hydrating like you should be. Hydration will help your body let go of water weight and shed a lot of extra weight that you didn't know that you had to shed. If your body is 75% water, then guess how much water it takes to continually keep your body running at peak performance. A LOT! Drink enough water and it will boost your energy as well.
4. Calories: You wouldn't believe how many calories the average obese person drinks in a day from sugary coffee, soda, teas and alcohol. The average obese person drinks 450-900+ calories per day and you could cut these to almost under 100 if you drink flavored sparkling waters like Waterloo or Bubly because they still give you the same fizz without the sugary calories. I love San Pelegrino with some lemon in it as it keeps my kidney stones from forming new ones while breaking down the ones that are already there. The average obese person eats 2,500-4,500 calories per day. If it takes a caloric deficit of 3,500 calories in order to burn 1 pound of fat, then you must find ways of cutting calories in order to safely lose 1-3 pounds of fat per week.
5. Cheat: Having a cheat day to eat and drink a couple of foods and drinks that you normally wouldn't drink or eat on your diet can help with busting the weight loss plateau because it helps your body enjoy good hormones from rewarding yourself for being on your diet. Remember to keep a hold on the cheat day so that it doesn't spiral into an out-of-control binging day. I have experienced that I have the will and power to keep going in my diet if I give myself a cheat day every other week to break up the monotony.
Implementing these secrets to busting the weight loss plateau will have you plunging right back into your weight loss and diet with greater passion and fervor. I have hit so many plateaus in my weight loss journey over the years and its generally a good thing that you have hit a plateau. It means that your body has adapted enough to the current conditions and minor adjustments get you back on track. Please share this with a friend or family member that you know needs help busting the weight loss plateau!

Biggest Fat Burners for Boosting Weight Loss
If you're anything like me, you look to burn fat quicker so that you don't have to deal with the troublesome extra weight on your body. We will unpack some of the biggest fat burners for boosting your weight loss as we look to fast track your weight loss. If you're feeling like your weight loss is in a lull and you need to kick it up a notch, then read through these fat burners. Let's dive into the deep end of fat burners so you can implement them and burn for fat!
1. Natural Extracts
Yohimbe and Forskolin are natural extracts that you can supplement for weight loss that block the receptors that hold onto fat in the body. This allows your body to let go of the fat that it would normally store in order to keep you alive in the event of starvation. These natural extracts stimulate cellular energy and fat breakdown easier than just letting your body do it by itself.
2. Metabolic Boosters
The biggest metabolic booster that boosts your weight loss is L-Carnitine. Supplementation of this wonderful compound allows your body to burn more fat and it is created in smaller amounts in the liver and kidneys. There must be an energy deficit in order for your body to utilize fat storages as energy with the L-Carnitine. This is by no means a magic pill, but can be a great utilization of your fat stores if you workout with cardio or get your heart rate up for an extended amount of time.
3. Thermogenics
Thermogenics is probably my favorite and it probably the biggest fat burner for boosting your weight loss because it lights the furnace fire of your body in order to burn more fat. Caffeine is the first thermogenic that causes your body to run faster and hotter by suppressing the melatonin receptors in your brain and body. Green tea catechins allow your body to burn fat whether you're working out or not. Capsaicin in peppers allow your body to suppress appetite as well as burn more fat as your body will run warmer than usual. Please consult your doctor before implementing these as they really amp up your body to burn more fat.
Now that we know how to boost our weight loss with these biggest fat burners its time to implement them into your life and take action. If you can choose 2 or maybe all 3 of these, you will see the fat start to peel off quicker, even if you haven't been losing that much weight. 3 Secrets to Naturally Boosting GLP-1 with Your Diet
If you're like me, then you want to avoid having to take medications altogether if you can help it. I would like to suggest that you consult your doctor if you are considering quitting your GLP-1 medication as it can be dangerous to do so without your doctor's help. Please do your own research. I have done my own research and haven't started taking GLP-1 because your body can and will produce enough GLP-1 without needing medication help, but you really need to see these three secrets and implement them in your life for maximizing your weight loss! Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 is produced in your body by L-cells in your gut in larger amounts when you implement these three secrets. Let's jump in!
1. Cultivate the Right Gut Bacteria
If you have the right gut microbiome then your T-cells will continue to release the GLP-1 for quite a while after you have consumed your food. You must feed the Short Chain Fatty Acids (butyrate, acetate and propionate) that are the waste products that your gut creates when the microbiome is fed by fiber. Feed your gut prebiotics that come from chicory root, garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, and slightly green bananas give you resistant starches. To diversify your gut microbiome, introduce probiotic foods in the form of fermented foods like unpasteurized sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, kombucha, foccacia bread and sourdough bread. By cultivating the right gut microbiome, the SCFA's will have food to feed off of and create GLP-1 for extended amounts of time.
2. Avoid Foods that Shut Off GLP-1 Production
There are lots of foods that shut off the production of GLP-1. These foods are ultra-processed and refined sugar foods. High sugar, low fiber foods cause rapid spikes in insulin and blood sugar levels, which can actually desensitize your gut's hormone signaling over time. All of these refined candy, ice cream, soda, ultra-processed frozen meals and juices with hidden sugars are all foods that turn off your GLP-1 production in the gut. Excessive saturated fats like ones that are found in fast food and deep fat fried foods are foods to avoid entirely. Stick to those healthy fats that are found in olive oil, avocado, nuts and seeds and legumes.
3. Support with Key Micronutrients
Berberine has often referred to cross-sectionally as, "nature's Ozempic" because there have been clinical studies showing that this plant stimulates GLP-1 secretion in the gut and it improves inulin sensitivity. Additionally, curcumin (from turmeric) has research that backs claims that it can also improve GLP-1 secretion in the gut and help decrease systemic inflammation, which protects your metabolic pathways. Polyphenols, the dark, antioxidant-rich foods like green tea (EGCG), extra virgin olive oil, cocoa, and dark berries stimulate the bitter taste receptors in your gut, which surprisingly triggers a release of GLP-1.
Now that we have seen the secrets to naturally boosting GLP-1 with your diet, I would like to mention that the Mediterranean Diet is excellent for keeping the GLP-1 on track. This diet's framework naturally aligns perfectly with GLP-1 optimization because it focuses heavily on olive oil, legumes, lean seafood, and high-fiber vegetables while eliminating highly processed foods. Strategic meal sequencing helps when you eat your protein and high-fiber vegetables first, saving refined carbohydrates for the end of the meal. Flooding the gut with protein and fiber early triggers the GLP-1 release sooner, dampening your appetite before you overconsume carbs. Mindful, slower eating naturally gives GLP-1 time to peak. Studies show that taking 20 to 30 minutes to finish a meal results in significantly higher GLP-1 secretion compared to rushing through a meal in 5 minutes.
Please share this blog post with anyone that you know that is taking GLP-1 medications as it could help them get ack on track with their diet and it could help improve their weight loss results over time.
